The first two days of ALT meetings have been set aside to clarify the purpose and goals of the team, helping each team member to know what is expected of them and the role they play in YWAM Africa leadership. To help the team in this process, they have been joined for 2 days by Greg Griffin of Mission Builders.
There have been some lively discussions of the challenges facing YWAM Africa and some possible ways of meeting those challenges, with established team members and recent additions to the team enjoying the dynamic of wrestling with the issues together. Everyone enjoyed the way Greg created plenty of time for prayer as part of the process, allowing time for God to direct people’s thoughts and speak from His word.
Particular aspects of leadership were highlighted as necessary for the team: that of prophetic spiritual leadership and apostolic eldership stood out as priorities in the way the ALT lead YWAM Africa forward.
By the end of their first full day together, the Africa Leadership Team were well on their way to defining the specific steps they need to take in order to fulfil their purpose as a leadership team for YWAM’s work in Africa. They all agreed that this heralds a new season in their ability to work together towards growth as part of a common vision.
