Meet Beulah Mzyece, one of YWAM's Unsung Heroes
|
 |
|
| Hi. My name is Beulah Mzyece. I was born on the 15th October 1968 in Chipata Eastern Province of Zambia. I am the 6th born and we were seven siblings. My parents were farmers. I suffered from polio at the age of seven and hence couldn’t walk again. As a young girl, I couldn’t play all the active games with the other kids and didn’t go out much. I was abit isolated and studied most the times. However, I think I did so much more than what society expected me to. |

History of my current Wheelchair.
My first wheelchair served me for 12 years, but was rather fragile. In November 1999 God called me to Missions. I needed a stronger, tough wheelchair, which would need less maintenance on the mission field. I was preparing to go on a Missions Encounter Trip to Mozambique, and I also considered long term missions. That's when I decided to buy my current wheelchair, which I call my "Missions wheelchair". This chair has really honoured its name, because it has served me faithfully in the remotest locations, like Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Argentina.

After my Missions Encounter Trip to Mozambique, in 1999, I just knew God wanted me to be in Missions. So in January 2001 I decided to do a Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Malawi . I stayed in Malawi till 2003 for more discipleship, training, and sharpening of my gifts. Malawi was a special place in the School of God, because God allowed situations and people in to my life, to mentor and sharpen me, to sand off rough edges. I love Malawi and the great the relationships I made with people from Malawi and different countries.
I feel God gave me gifts of teaching and preaching. The fear of God is build into my character. And God confirmed His calling on my life and told me to go to the nations.

Elisabeth and I first met in 2002 in Malawi, and in 2004 in Namibia. We stayed in touch via email.
In September 2007 I went to Pretoria, South Africa, on my way to Argentina. While applying for my visa from the Argentine Embassy I stayed with Elisabeth Miller for five days.

Teaching in Eastern Europe via Skype
I came to Argentina and did the Introduction to Biblical Counselling School (IBC). I felt that God was challenging me to stay a bit longer, and get more developed in the area of counselling, even if initially I didn’t know Spanish. Then came language learning and cross cultural ministry. Early this year I had an invitation to go and teach two weeks in the counselling school in Latvia. However, I didn’t make it because my visa did not come through in time. Instead I taught those two weeks via Skype. It was a big challenge, as I was concerned I might be able to not properly transmit the heart of God via Skype. The first two days were hard, but than I gained confidence and it went very well. Maybe you call these my highlights, but I call them my adventures for Christ, and that’s why my newsletters are entitled "Beulah’s Adventures for Christ".

What I do:
- I work with counselling Schools, where I also teach
- I teach the Divine Plumbline on DTS
- Teaching, training, preaching and challenging the people in churches to get involved in missions and have access to basic counselling.
- Right I am working with my 3rd Counselling school. In January 2012 we go on outreach.
- Preparing for a short term outreach with a team from Argentina to Zambia, God willing, next year in April.
- Am praying and planning for a short term visit to Indonesia, God willing next year after the visit to Zambia. Once God gives me a green light I want to make a long term trip to Indonesia.

Beulah is flexible and adaptable. Amazing.
Sometimes she travels on an old bus, then in a truck, in planes, .... whatever. |
